And we get crafty again!

Holidays means fun and crafts and paintings..so we made the following :

Caterpillar ..though it doesnot look like one and I could not find anything to make tentacles

Lady bug puppet - which hardly looks like lady bug though ..but it was 100% painted by the prince and so I have no complaints.

Paper Mache Musical Maracas - for Shruti ! Only because of her I tried hands on this.

An old ice cream container used as the base.
I have put some channa in it for the sound.
The handle is of rolled paper.
The ready structure was then dipped in paper mache paste.
And we then rolled it over on pieces of news paper.
Finally it was dipped again in paper mache paste.
We finally had a colourful Musical Maracas.

I wanted to make 2 but Aryan lost patience and so the other one was left like that.

..and there was a horse..

Today in the school they will go over the tail and mask err..the tale of a busy horse spider :D





YEAH YEAH ..you got it right !
Today they have a class activity where they will go over a tale of the busy spider and students need to dress like the characters. Aryan has to be a horse.

Now ..thats the activity for the mom too..how do I make him a horse is what I thought when I saw the synopsis...rent a dress , buy a dress..naah ..that would be too much work for a class activity :-P

So google bhaiya jindabad ..googled horse masks and made one. (I really hope it looks like a horse though :-P ) And a tail , ready made :-P

But he doesnot have a brown Tshirt/shirt..so what will the horse wear ???
I told him , you will be a black horse with brown face and tail..LOL!

Lets see how it goes :-)

Birthday Update

I know I have been lazy with this one but better late than never. Here are the details on how we celebrated his birthday :

Celebration at school : They just allow us to send simple (non-icing) plain cake for the kids. And so we did the same. The cake would have been cut and distributed in class. Here is the update I get from him : "School mein bread (cake without icing = BREAD) kata, P Maam bread kata.Aryan Happy Birthday to you kiya, M (a girl in class) ne ulta clap kiya(followed by demo) , S ( a boy in class) ne aaise (followed by demo) clap kiya."

Celebration at day care : We reached there around 5 pm with cake and birthday caps. Prince Charming was all excited to see us , felt shy to be the centre of attraction. The kids patiently waited for cake to be arranged. The cake was cut , served and sweets distributed and we came home.

Celebration at home : Aryan's dadi instructed on phone to make poori and kheer for Aryan on his birthday and so it was done. Aryan was too happy after all the attention , happily had all the yummy food without a fuss.

Party on weekend : On 25th we planned a kiddy kinds birthday party with Aryan's cousins and his close friends from daycare. The theme was thought to be pooh for Aryan LOVES Pooh. Party was in the apartment's function hall. It was tough to explain Aryan that we were preparing for HIS birthday party , since it was actually first party we organized. He thought we are getting ready for X or Y's birthday party.Finally we reached the hall with the stuff , did some basic decoration. Aryan swamped the cake and licked his fingers a little as he was way too excited to see a BIG POOH cake. Guests arrived. And finally our son started believing that it was all for him. He played like mad and was sweating before the cake was cut :D

Like I told it was the first party that I organized and so my inexperience did show at so many places like I forgot to make popcorns , distribute caps , open party popper , burst the centre balloon etc etc. Thankfully the kids were prompt to ask and collect their return gifts :D

In all ,inspite of all my forgetfullness the party was enjoyable atleast to the kids :)

When I asked Aryan later , "Maza aaya" the reply was , "Yes , gym (the party hall has gym next to it :P) mein bahut maza aaya"

For the records , on the menu was :
A pooh Cake , Samosas , Sandwiches ,Pizza , Ice cream , Soft drinks , Cookies & Chips AND OFCOURSE POPCORNS THAT WERE NEVER SERVED :P

25 months

I have not updated this page from a long time now and today I realized that I have so much to write that I do not know what to write :-P

Since today is 21st and Aryan turned 25 months old today, let me do a post today atleast.

So as you know my parents came for 10 days and Aryan was overwhelmed with their love and all the attention that he got. He used to be super excited all the time, dancing in happiness. He started repeating all the talks happening around. He discovered silly games, like standing on my papa’s hand and him saying “Uuii Uuuii” in pain and pulling his hand back and running in the balcony to see who will touch the wall on the opposite side first.

Then on 30th July , when they had to go back I did not know how will Aryan react. We went to drop them to railway station. We did counseling to Aryan 2 days in advance. Thankfully he did not cry , though he was sad.

Next morning my in laws came and Aryan wanted them to play the same silly games with him that he played with Nana Nani. For a day or two he missed nana nani badly inspite of having a great time with dadu dadi. And then he discovered a different set of silly games to play with the different set of grandparents.

In all we had a over excited, bubbly, naughty and happy baby for about a month, who enjoyed all the attention and love showered upon him 24 by 7.

My in laws went back on 13th Aug . Aryan as expected is missing all the fun badly. But at the same time he has been a good baby and managing well.

There were a few incidents , who may not be so significant to anyone from a third person’s perspective , but to me they give me some insight about my son’s personality.

So I would like to list them here :

On of the days, my MIL fell down while she was coming back after giving Aryan a bath. And Aryan who saw her falling down and was alone in the room got too scared and started crying. As she got up and hugged Aryan, Aryan patted her back and kissed her back , several times during the day and next few days. She told me that Aryan was scared when she wanted to take him to bath the next day, thinking that dadi might fall again. It was then that I discovered how caring and sensitive my little boy is. I mean I always thought that he is a sensitive child but the way he behaved to his dadi’s injury was beyond my expectation at his age.

I always wondered how Aryan will react to a sibling or a kid in house. I got chance when Anupam’s cousin came to stay over for a weekend with her 4 years old daughter. The two kids behaved just as expected. Hugging and cuddling each other one moment and fighting over a toy the next moment. Looking for each other if one is missing and fighting over the laps of their mothers. Aryan enjoyed her company for 2 days and literally missed her for days after she was gone.

On one of those two days when the two kids were playing with same colored balloons , Aryan’s balloon went out of his reach and so he grabbed the little girl’s balloon. As obvious , she started crying. It was then , I got Aryan’s balloon back to him. On getting his own balloon back, Aryan went and gave the little girl hers and kissed and hugged her. So I don’t know what should I conclude f rom the incident , which shows me two sides of same coin.

Fun at Anupam's Office

Anupam's company celebrated family day on last Saturday(They do it every year). Aryan was thrilled to see the stage. He wanted to shake a leg on the music and so I let him go on the stage , till they started the event.The event was nice and the theme was fims of 70's. I must say that they had put in lot of hardwork and money. The food and snacks were great as well.

After the cultural event started , Aryan got uneasy due to the loud music. And so we went upstairs to Anupam's desk. Aryan ran around the whole office , while I peeped into the balconies to see the dances.

There was a carnival as well in the basement.The theme was again the 70's. They had sugar cane juice , popcorns , Tatoos , Caricature , pottery , bouncy,Merry Go Round and SO MANY things there Aryan enjoyed the Merry Go Round.
